To generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) for a Personal Email Security (S/MIME) certificate from Sectigo, follow these steps. This process typically involves using an email client like Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail or using OpenSSL from the command line if you prefer more control.
Method 1: Using an Email Client (Outlook or Apple Mail)
Open Outlook and go to the File menu.
Select Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings.
Under Email Security, click on Settings.
In the Certificates and Algorithms section, click Choose.
Select the Security Settings Name.
Follow the prompts to select Sectigo (or your CA) and generate the CSR.
Open Keychain Access (found in Applications > Utilities).
From the Keychain Access menu, select Certificate Assistant > Request a Certificate from a Certificate Authority.
